The error showed invalid reference format due to double slashes in the image tag.
Fixed by:
1. Using a fixed username (Mrixs) instead of relying on gitea.repository_owner
2. Ensuring proper single-slash format: REGISTRY/USERNAME/IMAGE_NAME
The Docker registry requires repository names to be lowercase.
Fixed by converting the Gitea repository owner to lowercase for image tags
while keeping the original case for authentication purposes.
Updated workflow to:
- Use Gitea token for repository checkout authentication
- Use Gitea repository owner as username for registry login
- Use PACKAGES_TOKEN secret for registry authentication
- Follow proven pattern from working repository
- Only build and push on main/master branches and version tags
- Added proper job dependencies (test → build → docker)

- Includes caching for faster subsequent builds
- Proper tagging strategy (branch, semver, SHA)

3. Cleanup:
- Removed temporary build artifacts and coverage files
